Yes, we do lose some control, and yes RAW gives us more flexibility, but I've been surprised by the results that we get with JPG files. When we process a JPG file we do not start from scratch it has already been processed by the camera. For photos that were shot "correctly" (correct exposure and white balance), to my surprise, it is not that easy to match the quality of the processed JPG file by processing it from scratch using RAW. Oftentimes I process the RAW and JPG versions of the same photo. RAW or JPG? I have been shooting in both formats using a Nikon D7000 camera and I have been processing both RAW and JPG files using Darktable. ![]()
